1

Day 1: Arusha on arrival

Staying at Rivertrees You'll be met at Kilimanjaro International and transferred to Arusha, the town that is Tanzania's safari hub. Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn, with dinner included.

Day 2: Explore the markets and Shanga House

Staying at Rivertrees Visit the Arusha market in the heart of Arusha town in the morning. Explore with your guide and bargain for fresh local produce. You'll have lunch at the Shanga River House (included) on one of Arusha’s oldest coffee farms, then visit the Shanga Shangaa craft workshop that empowers disabled Tanzanians to realise their potential, develop new skills and improve their own lives through using recycled materials and producing at a sustainable level. Overnight at Rivertrees Country Inn, with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 3: Masai people and Tarangire elephant

Staying at Maramboi Tented Camp You'll drive to Tarangire National Park to see some wildlife. Tarangire is probably the best place in East Africa to see elephant, which move along the Tarangire River. There's also plains game and big cats like lion and leopard. But what makes the park really special are its huge baobab trees, which are very photogenic. You'll overnight at Maramboi Tented Camp just outside the park gates, overlooking Lake Manyara. This is a community-based project on community land. Buy from the local traders and walk with the Maasai as they herd their cattle in the late afternoon. Overnight at Maramboi, with your meals and drinks included.

Day 4: Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu

Staying at Ngorongoro Farm House From Tarangire you'll drive to Lake Manyara and stop for lunch at the vibrant and colourful town of Mto wa Mbu to enjoy local food – chapatti, wali njama and maharage (pancakes, rice and meat with beans), kuku chipsi (chicken and chips) and the famous pili pili mbuzi (very tasty chilli). There's something for everyone and great vegetarian options. Explore Lake Manyara in the afternoon and overnight at Ngorongoro Farmhouse, a working farm just outside the Ngorongoro entrance gate, with your meals included.

Day 5: Masai village visit and the southern plains

Staying at Ndutu Safari Lodge Today you'll drive to the southern Serengeti, stopping on the way at an authentic Maasai village that will give you insight into the lives of these nomads of East Africa. Their intriguing history and way of life explain why this tribe has remained unwesternised even today. You'll continue to the southern Serengeti plains – a good place to explore at any time of year. During the wet season the southern plains see lots of interaction because of the numbers of plains game that gather, whereas in the dry season the resident game is easy to find at the only permanent water. Overnight at Ndutu Safari Lodge, with your meals included.

Day 6: The big cats and Seronera

Staying at Mara River Kati Kati Tented Camp Today you'll leave the culture and tribes behind and focus on the Serengeti and everything that comes with it ‐ big cats such as lion and leopard and wonderful predator/prey interaction. Overnight at Kati Kati Tented Camp, with your meals included.

Day 7: Find your leopard

Staying at Mara River Kati Kati Tented Camp You'll make an early start to see as many lions as possible early in the morning while they're still active. The central Serengeti and Makoma Hill is an extraordinary wildlife area. On your afternoon game drive you'll explore the Seronera river system and look for leopard. Overnight at Kati Kati Tented Camp, with your meals included.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater, onto the Crater floor

Staying at Kirurumu Ngorongoro Camp You'll spend the morning in the Serengeti and then drive back to the Ngorongoro highlands and down onto the Crater floor, searching for endangered black rhino that move to water in the afternoon. Overnight at Kirurumu Ngorongoro Camp on the Crater rim, with your meals included.

Day 9 Karatu and Gibb's Farm

Staying at Gibbs Farm You'll take a packed lunch and spend a second day on the Crater floor. A morning inside the Crater will show you more cats, especially lion, as well as big elephant bulls. Enjoy your picnic lunch inside the Crater before driving down the Crater rim to the little town of Karatu to spend the night at Gibb’s Farm, with your meals and drinks included.

Day 10: Full day on the farm, get up and get busy

Staying at Gibbs Farm Gibb’s Farm is a community based high-end lodge that allows you to experience the working farm, bake bread and share stories with the local Maasai. Day 11: Fly Home

From Gibb's Farm you'll get to Arusha in time for lunch (included) before being taken to Kilimanjaro International to connect with your flight home.
