ITINERARY

This is where all of your planning becomes a reality: your safari starts now. Tanzania is such a wonderful country when it comes to wildlife and beautiful landscapes. After we greet you and answer any questions you might have, we’ll take great pleasure in taking you out and showing you what we mean.

Take Tanzania’s pulse in Dar es Salaam, the country’s largest city and major international gateway. It’s a place to soak up the hot curry of cultures that make up this fascinating city. You’ll eat well in the wide range of restaurants, and there are museums and beaches as well.

Meals Included: Lunch & Dinner

You can look forward to big prides of lions, and big herds of elephants and buffaloes in this wild and unforgettable park. And you might see so many giraffes, hippos and zebras in Ruaha that you’ll stop counting them. Watch for leopards, too, although they can be difficult to see. The scenery is just as memorable – there’s magic in the air close to sunrise and sunset when everything here turns to gold and animals gather along the riverbanks. There are lots of birds here, too, with more than 450 species recorded in the park. And you’ll definitely come across more animals than fellow travelers.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Ruaha River Lodge or Similar Accommodation

We love Katavi for one simple fact: you’ll see a far greater number of animals than people at this park. Lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles – sightings of these are almost guaranteed while you’re here. If you’re lucky, you might also see leopards, as well as sable and roan antelope – two much sought-after antelope species that you rarely find in the same park. Other highlights include some of Tanzania’s largest buffalo herds and more than 400 bird species. Long after you leave, you’ll remember the grassy plains filled with wildlife, and the feeling of wilderness along the riverbanks and deep in the woodlands of this park.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Katavi Wildlife Camp or Similar Accommodation

There’s nowhere else in Tanzania quite like Mahale Mountains National Park. Here, close to the shores of blue-as-blue Lake Tanganyika, you’ll walk into a rainforest world in search of chimpanzees. Listen to the sound of birds calling and keep an eye out for leopards, blue duikers, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys and perhaps even giant pangolins. But it’s the time that you’ll spend with chimpanzees that is the greatest gift of Mahale Mountains.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Mbali Mbali Mahale or Similar Accommodation

Spend some time in Arusha, both the gateway city for most safaris in northern Tanzania and a fascinating place to explore. Enjoy good restaurants, streets filled with energy and so many snapshots of vibrant Tanzanian city life. It’s everything you look for in an urban pit stop.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Villa Maua or Similar Accommodation

Wherever you go in Tarangire National Park, you’ll come across the park’s famous and larger-than-life baobab trees and elephants. These are the twin elements that give this park so much personality. There is, of course, so much more. We don’t just mean the huge populations of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras. Or the rugged landscape of rocky hills and rivers, swamps and savannah plains. You also have an excellent chance of seeing lions here – Tarangire is a real lion stronghold – and keep an eye out for leopards and cheetahs as well.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Farm of Dreams Lodge or Similar Accommodation

Ngorongoro is a special place and the first time that you descend onto the crater floor is like no other safari experience in Africa. This is a world unto itself, one where you’ll encounter the crater’s 600-strong population of hyenas, as well as critically endangered black rhinos. You’ll also find elephants with larger- than-average tusks, and more than 50 lions living in the crater. But it’s the sheer beauty of Ngorongoro that will most likely live longest in your memory. From early morning, mist rises from the crater, revealing steep, forested walls, secret waterways where hippos wallow, and a world of abundant wildlife hidden away from the rest of the world.

You won’t find many better national parks in Africa than the Serengeti, which has few rivals when it comes to both the numbers and variety of animals. Track down the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Enjoy the vast horizons that are perfect for spotting predators (especially lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas) and their prey (buffaloes, impalas and kongoni), as well as elephants and giraffes. If you’re really lucky you’ll see a hunt, one of the most exhilarating sights anywhere in the wild. And at every turn, revel in its beauty, with flat-topped acacia trees silhouetted against the setting sun, and so many other classic African safari images.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Accommodation: Serengeti Sametu Camp or Similar Accommodation

After breakfast we have transfer Game Drive, Serengeti National Park to Kogatende Airstrip. Thus board a chattered flight to Zanzibar.

Utterly unlike anywhere else in Tanzania, Zanzibar Island is a fascinating place to explore. Beautiful beaches and scenery are part of the appeal here, but the architecture and atmosphere in Stone Town and elsewhere are highlights. Stunning buildings and markets that carry strong echoes of the spice trade make for a memorable stay.

All good things must come to an end, and your time with us on safari in Tanzania will now draw to a close. We’re sure that you’ve had a wonderful time.
